The GOP is calling for Congress to cut ties with online clothing retailers who sell products deemed inappropriate for minors.GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham said Wednesday that the GOP should also oppose efforts by the Democratic National Committee and other groups to stop “adult-themed clothing” from selling online.
The statement from Graham came after a meeting with DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz in which the two discussed how to block the sale of adult-themed items to children.
“This is an issue we need to address with the DNC, not with other groups,” Graham said.
“This is something we should address together, not separately.”
He noted that the RNC’s plan to bar the sale to children is being opposed by the White House.
Wasserman Schultz has defended the DNC’s decision, saying the RNC is not a legitimate source of content for minors and that it was simply a way for the DNC to use its power to “discredit” the RNC.
“I think it’s really unfortunate that the Democrats are taking this issue and putting it on the table, and I think they’re making a false equivalency,” Wasserman Schultz said Wednesday.
“The RNC and its parent company, Advance Publications, are a legitimate publisher of books and other media.”
The RNC’s move to block adult-related clothing on the internet comes after a series of controversies, including an incident in which a Republican member of Congress used a fake Twitter account to harass a Democratic constituent.
In March, the RNC banned the sale and sale of “adult” clothing online.
It also recently shut down the online sales of “mature-rated” clothing and other items.
The RNC also said it will not allow the sale or sale of items like lingerie, lingerie accessories, lingeries, and lingerie covers that contain graphic images of sexual assault.WASSERMAN SCHULTZ, DNC CHAIRMAN: I think the RNC should be ashamed of itself for doing this.
It’s absolutely disgusting.
The RNC should not be allowed to participate in this.
They should not have this platform.
And frankly, it’s unacceptable.
The American people deserve better.
I think it should be taken off the floor of Congress.
The GOP should be embarrassed.
It should apologize to our constituents and to our party.
