New Scientist has been looking into the clothes steamer – the online clothing store that offers cheap clothes in a range of styles and sizes.
But while it’s often marketed as a way to find clothes in your local thrift shop, there are a lot of people who find it more of a way for their online shopping to take over.
A lot of the clothing steamer owners we spoke to said the service is used to sell low-cost items that are often not as fashionable as their pricier items.
“It’s not really designed for high-end, high-street clothes,” said one woman.
She told New Scientist she uses the service to sell items such as sweaters, sweaters with patterns and the like.
“There’s lots of good stuff to be found,” she said.
“You’ll find stuff you might not have found before.”
But for those looking for cheap clothing online, it can be a struggle.
“The service has a lot more options for low-quality items than we’d expect,” said the source.
“We get some really good stuff, but some of it is really crap.
And some of the stuff that is there is just a lot cheaper.”
